How does temperature change the acoustics in a room? Hey all, I'm wondering just what the questions asks. In what ways do variances in temperatures change the sound acoustics in a room and why? For instance an empty ballroom as opposed to a ballroom with 1000 people in it? Thanks!
How can I make the acoustics for where my drumset is better? I have a NICE yamaha drumset that i bought a year back and it sounds horrendous in the peninsula of walls that it's located in. Whenever I bring it on stage where the acoustics are good or decent, my drumset sounds amazing. Should i buy some foam pads and put them up against the walls or is there a better way?
How do I make a room have better acoustics? Whenever I sing in the bathroom, (I know... Lame), it sounds so much better than when I do anywhere else in my house. My friend, who has been a pianist for years, tells me it's because the bathroom has better acoustics. How do I make it so my bedroom does too? Does it have anything to do with the amount of furniture? Or the type of walls?
Can you use a microphone while singing and dancing in an auditorium with terrible acoustics? For my upcoming choir concert, a friend and I are singing and dancing to "Tango: Maureen" from the musical Rent. Our audition is in two days, and we might not use a microphone. The auditorium we will the performing in has terrible acoustics (you hear better in the back than right up the the front row. My questions are: 1. Should we use a microphone for this? And... 2. If we don't, how can we learn to project our voices in such a short time?
What are the best acoustics strings for me? ive been playing my acoustics guitar for a couple of months now and ive been struggling with barring chords because my strings were too hard to press. Does my guitar have anything to do with it? What brand of strings should i use?
Where are the best acoustics in a normal house? I sing constantly, and it's something I truly love to do so now I'm curious about this. I've always been told it was the bathroom since there were very few things, but when i was singing earlier on my stairs I noticed it sounded different and more open in this area. In general what rooms tend to have good acoustics in a house?
Acoustics????? I have a steel string acoustic is it possible to buy those tiny microphone thingys so i can plug it into my amp
Choosing a College Major to work in Acoustics or Stereo Technology or Sound? I am at a junior college and i'm trying to decide my major. I'm doing lots of engineering, physics, and math classes. I want to have a job in the future doing something with stereo equipment, possibly designing it. Maybe do something that has to do with acoustics or sounds, like cardioid microphones or anything like that. Where can I find more information on these subjects? Does anyone out there do this currently and know what it's like working with it? Does it pay well? What should my major be for that?
Where could i find some good Boston Acoustics? I was wondering where i could some Boston Acoustics BA745 speakers with subwoofer for a good price because everywhere i look online they always seem to be to expensive and i had a bad expierence with EBAY.
What do you think is a better subwoofer for SQ: JL W3V3 or Boston Acoustics G2? I've heard both subs, but in different applications/vehicles with different acoustics and amplifier power. I liked the way the W3V3s sounded in some vehicles, but I also liked the way the BA G2s sounded in other applications. I'm looking to buy one (1) 10" sub in a sealed enclosure with about 325 RMS. What do you guys (gals) think?
What is the defination of acoustics? Not the kind with guitars and junk, i mean the one that has to do with how well sound travels in a room and stuff, and how well a room echoes. Can someone give me the defination of that type of acoustics?
Simple hints to improve acoustics for a home studio? I'm planning to build a simple home studio for my band as well as other bands I am friends with in my city. Does anyone have any simple hints to improve the sound in the room I'm recording in? I don't want to go super professional and do any remodeling or anything. Just very simple tricks. Thanks!
What are some websites to learn basic acoustics for guitar? I'm a self-taught guitarist who has been playing mainly metal, classic rock, and a little grunge. But recently I've taken a liking to acoustics, and would like to know if there are any websites out there that have maybe an acoustic chord dictionary or some quick tips/lessons.
Will painting on my ukulele change the acoustics? I was thinking about painting an octopus on the back of my Lanikai LU-21, but I dont know if it'll change the acoustics significantly. I'd be using water-based craft paint, not anything heavy like laquers or plastic/oil based paints.
Why are electric guitars so much easier to play than acoustics? I am just beginning to learn to play guitar. At home, I practice on an acoustic (Washburn), but my friends and I often play at school during lunch. Several people keep their guitars at school, and we like to get together and jam for a while. I have noticed, however, that I seem to play much better on an electric than on my acoustic. Why is this? I think I read somewhere about electric guitars having thinner strings, but is that the only reason?
What sites (or books) have good information about the physics and acoustics of the flute? I have already found the UNSW Music acustics page on it, which is very informative, but I am looking for an explanation that is slightly less technical (i'm an 8th grader doing a project, i'm fairly advanced and interested in physics though). I do play flute. Also if you know of a good introduction to acustics of instruments in general, that would be great too.
My church interior is being painted soon; I want to liven the acoustics. Is there a special paint? The sanctuary is fairly large, and has a moderate echo already. I am worried that the new paint will deaden the reverb, and am trying to find a paint that will keep the surface as hard as possible (even if it means repainting a coat on top of the pigment coat.) The church uses traditional music, choir and organ, and so would favor a live acoustic. Does this paint exist? I've heard about it being used, but I don't know if it's just rumors. Where can I find it?
Is there anything cheap i can use to make acoustics in my garage? I have a band that consists of 2 guitar players, a drummer, a bassist, and a synth/keyboard player (me). Whenever we play in my garage, the sound seems to all jumble together and i was wondering if anyone knew how to make acoustics from every day items. I heard egg cartons work, but I need to verify that.
What kind of digital input is on the back of a Boston Acoustics BA7500G? Is the input on the back 3.5mm toslink, or 3.5mm digital minijack? I thought it was the latter, but it sounds like it may not be. I am trying to get audio out from my PS3 (through ToSlink) to the sound system, and dont know whether I need a converter or not. by the way, on this page there is a picture of the digital input. http://cgi.ebay.com/BOSTON-DIGITAL-BA7500G-SUB-WOOFER_W0QQitemZ150128273720QQihZ005QQcategoryZ3702QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem
Rounding corners in a room for acoustics/repelling spiders? Would filling the corners of a room as such like the inverse of a sphere so that it is completely round instead of cornered by 3 walls do the following: 1. Help acoustics by helping to reduce standing waves? 2. Reduce/repel spiders due to the round surface making it harder for the spiders to create a web?
How good are the acoustics of a gambrel roof barn? In my barn I have a home theater. It seems unlikely, but considering that it has a grainery on one side, a vast open space and hay on the other side; and it's on the dry floor and it has a gambrel roof, it could be all right acoustically couldn't it? 1. Raised floor 2. broken up roof 3. False wall; there are no "solid walls" around it; a ton of room above up to the muti-sloped gambrel roof and over to the hay mough on one side. Could that possibly be okay?
Does anyone know anything about Boston Acoustics SPG 555 oval subwoofers? The specs on them are very impressive, but I've never seen them in action. They are rated at 1000 watts rms, and have 3 3/4 inches of excursion, so I would think that they could probably outperform JL Audio 13W7's, but I've never seen this comparison done. Has anyone ever heard these subs before?
