Is there something cheaper than Dynamat that I can use for sound proofing my car?
I want better sound for my system, are there other ways besides expensive Dynamat??? (for my trunk)

- Gallons of Water
- Carpet underlay is OK, not the foam the rubber. Also try a Rubber shop there is a Rubber similar to DUNLOP Pillow that is good. Sorry I can't remember the name.
- insulating rubber like the materials they put over pipes it comes in many thicknesses and sizes.
- Dynamat isn't really a sound proofing. Its more more keeping body panals and such from rattling themselves apart with sound systems. Actually I use to use regular housing insulation when I need extra sound dampening. It works pretty good. You'll just have to make sure you get a nice tight full packing of it on the trunk lid and sides. Use poly fill(like used in pillows and sub boxes) to insulate your taillight assembly and other tight spots. Also cut a piece of insulation to put behind your rear plate. I had a friend use that blown in insulation and it worked pretty good.
- dynamat can get really expensive really fast. if you used fatmat you could do your entire car for $130. which is almost as much as the dynamat extrem trunk kit. http://www.fatmat.com/bulk/fatmat/100.html good luck
- At Home Depot there is stuff in the roofing section called Peel and Seal. It has a tar backing with foil cover. I have used it. It looks identical to Dyanmat except that it might be a little thinner. I don't know if it's effective as Dyanmat but it's made the same way and a whole lot cheaper. Hoped this helped.
